Mouthwash
You want to do something really scary? Try buying mouthwash when you can't read any of the labels. It's especially problematic when the same company makes mouthwash and floor cleaner (in very similar bottles). I almost walked out of the store with nothing because I couldn't make myself commit.

Hmmm, yeah, I can see how that would be a little worrisome.
Last year I tried to buy some Afrin-type nasal decongestant while in Germany (developed a bad cold, and didn't want my sinuses to explode during the return flight). I mistakenly tried to go it alone rather than take a German with me, and no one in the Apotheke I went to spoke much English. I thought they understood what I was looking for, and recommended something in a nasal spray bottle. So I bought...
It didn't really accomplish much, just kind of fizzed a little and poured right back out of my nose. Turns out (after some internet research once back home) that it was essentially just a saline solution with a little healing promotion ingredients for nasal injuries. So not harmful (hopefully nothing at the Apotheke would be as harmful as floor cleaner) -- just useless to me.
